B&B Cattle finding Hard Luck Ranch

Our Story

Our names are Benton and BreAnna, and we had each been through a lot before our chance meeting three years ago at the White Elephant Saloon in Fort Worth, Texas. We believe God brings people into our lives by design — and that night was no accident.

We operate B&B Cattle on our ranch in Skidmore, a small town in South Texas. Not long after we purchased our ranch, our lives were changed forever. In September, while working cattle, Benton was gored by a bull in a tragic accident that nearly took his life. He survived 11 broken ribs, a shattered scapula, a collapsed lung, and a severed jugular vein — requiring 2 surgeries, 9 blood transfusions, 3 chest tubes, and plated ribs.

Through it all, Benton never once asked "why me." His response was that he was blessed to have the problem. His motivation to get out of the hospital was simple: get back to the ranch and get to work. We humanely put the bull down so he could never harm anyone else.

After 30 long days in the hospital, Benton was finally stable enough to come home. When we got in the car to head back to the ranch, Charley Crockett's "Hard Luck and Circumstances" came on the radio. We just looked at each other and grinned. That was the moment we knew — Hard Luck Ranch was what we needed to call this place.

Although Benton has limited mobility since his accident, he remains the toughest man I know, with incredible heart and grit. Our road has been long and unbearable at times, but we know in our hearts it was by pure Hard Luck — and we wouldn't trade it.

We hope you share our testament by wearing our merchandise and displaying your own grit and perseverance through whatever this life brings you. Welcome to Hard Luck Ranch.
